Trenton South Ward neighborhood 'under siege' from Latin Kings, MS-13 gang war (VIDEO)
From the Trentonian (New Jersey's version of the New York Post). A story, with video, about a gang shootout in Trenton.

I'm not knocking my state. Most major cities in the U.S. have gang problems. Hell, suburbs have gang problems. And where do gangs make most of their operating budget? What drug is their top earner?

It's not likely anything will be done because gangs aren't the only ones making a fortune off of this insanity.

"TRENTON -- A shootout between rival gangsters sent bullets through living room windows and had women and children ducking for their lives in the 200 block of Grand Street one night earlier this week.

Residents told The Trentonian today that cops showed on the street after the Tuesday night gunbattle, but didn’t do much beyond look at all the bullet holes in houses, mailboxes and trashcans and ricochet marks on brick walls.

“I had three of my grandchildren in my house on Tuesday night when the shooting started. Sure we are afraid,” said a resident who wouldn’t give his name.

South Ward Councilman George Muschal, who represents the street, said once tranquil Grand looked “like something straight out of Beruit’’ in the aftermath of the shootout."

The block where this happened is a little over a mile from the NJ Statehouse. Gangsters having shootouts in the state capitol over prohibition. It's clear, as with the economic collapse, we are once again suffering the consequences of ignoring history. Or allowing those we elect to ignore history at our expense.
