Update re Occupation Albuquerque

I just heard from a couple of people on Facebook:

"BURQUE IS NOW OCCUPIED!

CAMP SITE AT CENTRAL AND UNIVERSITY"


They have an occupation site, where some are camping out. It's at the corner of University & Central, on the corner of the UNM campus.

Every night at 6pm there is an assembly where they decide what they'll do, and where, on the following day.

Yesterday I heard there were about a hundred people. Small but organic, they're trying to use the NY model of consensus etc. I think it's mostly students from UNM so far but am not sure.

I'll crosspost this in GD too in case people are interested.

1. 'Occupy Albuquerque' protesters forced to move from UNM campsite

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. — Police have removed around three dozen "Occupy Albuquerque" protesters from their University of New Mexico campsite.

The Daily Lobo reports (http://bit.ly/pjS2Uk) that about 20 UNM and state police officers showed up at midnight Sunday with plastic zip handcuffs and canine units and informed protesters that they would have to leave the university.

Protesters, who have been camping out on campus since Oct. 1, left the site and no arrests were reported.

UNM spokeswoman Karen Wentworth said UNM officials repeatedly told protesters they were not allowed to stay on campus overnight because it violates school's policy and was unsafe for protesters ...
