Deja Vu Dancer Says Strippers Beat Her Bloody and Police Did Nothing
(snip)

Brandi ended up in the hospital with a broken nose, two black eyes, a gash in her head, a bite mark on her stomach, and various bruises all over her body.

"It breaks my heart that other people could do this to people -- for no reason -- over $15," Brandi says.

What's even more heartbreaking is this: Brandi doesn't think detectives are taking her seriously.

"He told me he had murders to deal with -- he'd get back to me," she said, describing the way a Toledo detective reacted to her tale.

2. It sounds like the cops have an "understanding" with the management.
I wonder what else they're looking the other way over?

3. Cops and sex workers is a story that is old, old.
They're not going to jeopardize their supply of free cream because of one angry milkmaid.

4. This is terrible

Just as it was terrible about the Duke case.

No woman should be treated in this manner!

5. Good for the Toledo TV Station!!
Abuse towards young women is unprecedented, especially in a patriarchal culture like ours.

What is equally tragic is when young women living in such a predatory, gender exploitive environment, begin to turn their anger towards other girls because they are easier to attack than their male exploiters/abusers.

6. You know something? I think young women were
better off in the days of the Playboy Clubs...at least the young women didn't have to remove their clothes and some were even bartenders wearing slacks and long-sleeved shirts.

Now strip clubs are everywhere....the only place where a young women can make a decent wage. Ain't America grand? And now the American male sees p0rn as his american, alcu, guaranteed right.

I hope Brandi gets a some justice.

ole days at the Playboy mansion, but I think you're spot on.

I hope she sees justice served too Femrap. It hopefully could mean added 'protection'and/or for others who might otherwise be victimized by dysfunctional/predatory pack mentalities. This should make the predators think twice before striking again.

10. those are somewhat sexist and inaccurate statements ...
with respect to the position of women in our society.

First, over 50% of enrollments and graduations from high schools
and colleges are women.

Stripping offers a fast tracks to quick money if you have the body
and skill for it.

I personally dont have a problem with it, its been going on since
the beginning of time for crying out loud. BUT it is certainly not
the only way for a woman to make a decent living.

9. what happened to her is sad, but we only have her side of the story
Firstly, if in fact she was trying to leave without paying the DJ,
she created a hostile environment for herself.

We are not talking hi-class joint here, without proper records
and pay check stubs people often work for tips in places like this.

If a dancer or a patron doesn't pay before they exit the joint, kiss
your dues goodbye.

None of these things justify her being beaten up the way she was,
she needs a good lawyer and a doctors report that those wounds are
from punches not sidewalk impact (hard for a flat surface to reach
inside and punch your eye).

Unfortunately for Brandi, there appears to be no indication that
the owner or even the bartender was involved or complicit, the police
may pursue felonious assault charges on those involved. Then she can
sue the DJ and the other strippers and get some remedy.

Hope she is not holding her breath to collect damages...
