Think You Can Fix Oregon’s Budget Crisis?
Oregon is facing a $3.5 billion shortfall in funding for schools and basic services. At the same time, the state gives away more than $30 billion in tax breaks and giveaways.

The budget crisis means that lawmakers are considering deep cuts to classrooms and vital services. It means they’ll need to make decisions about how to protect our shared priorities.

What would you do? Cut classrooms? Close prisons? Take a knife to corporate tax breaks? Well, here’s your chance to try it for yourself. Click below to try your hand with the Oregon Budget Widget, then share your results with your friends.

1. Who'd a thunk it?
Turns out you can balance the budget by increasing revenue.

2. A few modest cuts in Dept. of Corrections, a few modest tax increases on corporations...
without cutting any other programs, and I've got $800,000,000 to play with! Lemme think...half of it to restore the Oregon Health Plan, the other half divvied between schools, libraries, and parks.

THAT'S the state I want to live in.
