Ann Coulter speaking at Pitt April Fool's Day
Young Repuke event. I don't have much info. Lynn Cullen mentioned on her show today cause she was asked to counter Coulter and declined. Only info I could find on the web was below. Not that I want to go - but just wondered if anyone has more info.

This will be good. April 1st.

Please join the College Republicans for an evening with political pundit Ann Coulter. Ms. Coulter will speak at 7:00 pm and a question and answer session for students will follow.

Ann Coulter is the author of five New York Times bestsellers —Godless: The Church of Liberalism (June 2006),How to Talk to a Liberal (If You Must)(October, 2004), Treason: Liberal Treachery From the Cold War to the War on Terrorism (June 2003); Slander: Liberal Lies About the American Right (June 2002); and High Crimes and Misdemeanors:The Case Against Bill Clinton (August 1998).

Coulter is the legal correspondent for Human Events and writes a popular syndicated column for Universal Press Syndicate. She is a frequent guest on many TV shows, including Hannity and Colmes, Wolf Blitzer Reports, At Large With Geraldo Rivera, Scarborough Country, HBO's Real Time with Bill Maher, The O'Reilly Factor, Good Morning America and has been profiled in numerous publications, including TV Guide, the Guardian (UK), the New York Observer, National Journal, Harper's Bazaar, and Elle magazine, among others. She was named one of the top 100 Public Intellectuals by federal judge Richard Posner in 2001.

After practicing law in private practice in New York City, Coulter worked for the Senate Judiciary Committee, where she handled crime and immigration issues for Senator Spencer Abraham of Michigan. From there, she became a litigator with the Center For Individual Rights in Washington, DC, a public interest law firm dedicated to the defense of individual rights with particular emphasis on freedom of speech, civil rights, and the free exercise of religion.

A Connecticut native, Coulter graduated with honors from Cornell University School of Arts & Sciences, and received her J.D. from University of Michigan Law School, where she was an editor of The Michigan Law Review.

Due to Security: Please limit all coats and large bags, there will be a MANDATORY coat check, which will be at your own risk as we cannot be responsible for the items of 1000 guests.

1. As an old time Penn State fan....
we used to say "Shit on Pitt!" when getting ready for Pitt's annual beating at the hands of our Lions, and well, if they're gonna have that biotch speak at Pitt...."SHIT ON PITT!"

6. Yeah, and as a Pitt alumna,
WE always used to say (and imagine we still do since I only graduated like 8 years ago): Penn State Sucks, Penn State Sucks.

Ah. Those were the good 'ole days. Ya' know, when Pitt beat the shit out of Paterno . . .

:hi:

2. Who asked Lynn to "counter" Coulter? Those College Punks?
Did they really think she'd agree to that?

3. Probably
Edited on Fri Mar-23-07 11:37 AM by RamboLiberal
Lynn emailed me that she suggested they get John McIntyre - now that I'd like to see cause John wouldn't care she'd be in front of her supporters - as I emailed Lynn, I think John would slice and dice Coultergeist.

Lynn didn't know who if anyone they were getting to counter her.

4. But why are the college punks wanting *any* liberal to counter Coulter?
What would be the point of that? If it was some sort of non-partisan group it might make sense, but the College Republicans??

5. More information on Coulter at Pitt

If you click on the link and read the rest of the article, it doesn't seem to be a done deal yet, the source is a post on a Facebook profile, and it is being funded by student money, so the CRs may have to have a liberal to make it a debate and not an evening of hate. There are also some comments on Pghlesbian.com too.

Here is more information from the Pittsburgh City Paper:

No April Fool's joke -- Coulter coming to Pitt

BY CHRIS POTTER

Fresh from her knee-slapping reference to presidential candidate John Edwards as a "faggot," Ann Coulter is coming to Pittsburgh on April 1. The conservative brick-thrower was invited by the University of Pittsburgh chapter of the College Republicans: She is scheduled to speak at 7 p.m. in Pitt's David Lawrence Hall.

"This isn't an April Fool's Joke!" proclaims an announcement for the event on Facebook, a social-networking site popular among college students. Indeed, publicity for the event has been scanty, but Pitt administrators and the Young America's Foundation -- a Virginia-based organization that books Coulter's campus appearances -- confirm Coulter is slated to appear.

BTW, I am former Pittsburgher, who is trying to get my local paper to dump the Coultergeist.
