Poll question: Looking ahead: Who will be elected Governor in 2010?
Edited on Tue Aug-07-07 09:55 PM by Penndems
Yeah, I know: It's early, The Guv still has three more years. But what if the election was tomorrow?

Here's a poll that includes both announced and speculative candidates. Who do you think should be PA's next Chief Executive?

1. Noooooooo Onorato!
I am so tired of watching him play with his Palm Pilot while citzens testify their hearts out.

And he doesn't get it about the voting machines. Dan's the man who wanted DIEBOLD for Pittsburgh.

2. Bob Casey's Brother Chris may run for State Attorney General next year
Perhaps he will be the next Governor Casey.

9. I heard that too, Freddie - So is John Morganelli and (possibly) Jim Eisenhower
I should do a separate posting on the Pennsylvania AG's race.

3. I haven't heard any rumors about Kukovich running.... but
he would make a great Lt. Governor, IMO.

10. True story from April 2006:
I was working on Jim Webb's Senate campaign last year, and we were holding one of our "thank you" parties for the volunteers. On my way down one hallway towards the front door, the last name on one gentleman's name tag caught my eye: Kukovich.

I spun around on my heel, walked over to him and asked, "Are you any relation to Allen Kukovich?" He responded that Mr. Kukovich was his cousin. In the course of our conversation, I mentioned what a great guy Mr. Kukovich was, that he'd gotten my vote for Lieutenant Governor in '02, and how I hoped he'd run for public office again.

The gentleman responded, "Allen was railroaded out of that job. The Regola people ran one of the dirtiest campaigns I've ever heard of, and slandered Allen's reputation. He worked hard for the people of his district, and he should've been reelected."

Couldn't have said it better myself. ;)

And yes - Former State Senator Kukovich would make an outstanding Governor, totally committed to the people of Pennsylvania, should he choose to jump into the race.

4. I cannot and will not vote for any Casey for Governor of this state
As a woman and the mother of young daughters there is simply too much at stake. Other than that, I would like to see a Western PA Gov but am open to other choices who protect women's rights.

5. If You Want a GREAT Governor from Western PA, Allen Kukovich is it!
Allen was one of the best State Senators ever -- he was known as the conscience of the PA Senate -- sad that a filthy dirty swiftboating campaign and over a million dollars of Pennsylvania GOP money took him out of there.

But Allen is around, and if he would run, he would be absolutely incredible as a Governor. No one is more concerned about the people.

8. Well, there is an anti-choice history in that family...
If he adopts a platform in favor of women's rights, I'll consider him.

When it comes to the executive office position of this state (particularly when viewing what's happened to the SC under W), I become a primary issue voter. Anyone, Dem or Repub who is anti-choice gets no further consideration.

6. Tom Knox May Run
The Phila Inquirer reported that Tom Knox is talking about possibly running for Governor. He spent an enormous amount of his own money on the Phila. Mayor primary. His supposed claim to fame was that he was Rendell's right hand man in the financial improvements of Phila. govt., but other Rendell aides disputed his importance.

12. I had not heard that Mr. Knox was considering a gubenatorial run
In your opinion, JP, how good are his chances of winning?

14. I should've included former Lieutenant Guv Mark Singel and Auditor General Jack Wagner on my list
They may be long shots, but they're still distinct possibilities.
