Police: SC state attorney caught with stripper
Edited on Thu Oct-29-09 12:59 AM by DainBramaged
Source: Atlanta Journal-Constitution

A deputy assistant attorney general who said he was on his lunch break when an officer found him with a stripper and sex toys in his sport utility vehicle has been fired, his boss said Wednesday.

Roland Corning, 66, a former state legislator, was in a secluded part of a downtown cemetery when an officer spotted him Monday, according to a police report obtained by The Associated Press under the Freedom of Information Act.

As the officer approached, Corning sped off, then pulled over a few blocks away. He and the 18-year-old woman with him, an employee of the Platinum Plus Gentleman's Club, gave conflicting stories about what they were doing in the cemetery, Officer Michael Wines wrote in his report, though he did not elaborate.

Corning gave Wines a badge showing he worked for the state Attorney General's Office. Wines, whose wife also works there, called her to make sure Corning was telling the truth. He then searched the SUV, where he found a Viagra pill and several sex toys, items Corning said he always kept with him, "just in case," according to the report.

Corning and the woman were let go without charges. Wines' wife reported the call to her supervisor, who told Attorney General Henry McMaster

25. the perp had squealed his tires and drove off initially when he first saw a cop car
the police radioed about a guy acting suspiciously,. and stopped him and asked to search. The perp said okay, and thats when they found the Viagra etc
than, the whole thing was almost covered up because one of the cops is married to a woman in the perps office. the initial story was exposed thanks to some anonymous emailers who worked at the police dept . Cats out of the bag now, and perp is out of job.

14. "sport utility vehicle" = Viagra
Hide the sausage is a sport, so I don't understand what the problem was either.

Family Values = A great deal down at the Platinum Pouch Gent's Club!

Or changing your clothes, for that matter.

6. Well, let's consider adultery for one
I guess the evidence or his explanation during questioning by his superiors wasn't enough to save his job. And lets suppose he has prosecuted hookers or stripper in the past, now he is caught with one AND had sex toys and these little blue pills for that four hour Woodie.

Conflict of interest maybe??

I dunno, SC a bit backward to consider sex in a graveyard weird?

have sex with 66 year olds unless there is payment or force involved.

10. Clues don't make crimes; and proof, not clues, are required to convict even
in the unlikely event that any crime beyond abuse of power by the cop exists. Is he a detective? What specific crime was he looking for proof of with the call to the mans's employer? While we are having our government bribed into abetting the stealing of America by the Financial Industry, how does the sexual behavior of our fellow citizens even make it on to our list of reasonable concerns?

but an OLD man having sex with a teenager in a graveyard that's not problematic?

9. Dude! Get a motel.
Big surprise:

Corning is perhaps best known in the House for his work on anti-abortion initiatives. http://www.thestate.com/local/story/1002279.html

Wonder how he would have voted here:

Bill would ban sex toys in South Carolina

A state lawmaker wants to ban the sale of sex toys. Republican Representative Ralph Davenport of Boiling Springs proposed the bill that would add sex toys to the state's obscenity laws. http://www.topix.com/forum/city/spartanburg-sc/THBOGRJU09J2IL0KH

13. Not only is there a very nice hotel...
across the parking lot from the Platinum Plus club in Columbia, if he was a true baller, lets just say that certain clubs in that city are liberal on the premises. Especially clubs on Two Notch Road. A very good chance that this politician would not be caught dead on Two Notch where there are clubs named after old TV shows and old NY clubs.

BTW, Platinum Plus is a primo club, frankly better than anything else in SC including Myrtle Beach.

12. Why was the cop bothering them in the first place?
This is really pretty scary that you can't go somewhere and be left alone by the police, sitting in your own car. This country is getting worse every day.

He should sue to get his job back, Republican or not. His rights appear to have seriously violated to me, and he was fired based on those violations.

15. Bruce Hornsby put this to song over 20 years ago--nailed it, too:
From "Defenders of the Flag" by Bruce Hornsby:

The congregation's waiting at the altar
They can't find the preacher anywhere
They found him with the new girl from the choir
Where they store the boxes of the book of prayer
If these guys are the good ones
I don't want to know the bad
You wonder how it happened
They just picked it up from dad
While faded old glory is hanging like a rag
Defenders, defenders of the flag

The flag is flying high over the courthouse
The wheels of justice never stood a chance
The judge is down at Charlie's on his lunch hour
Checking out the picture show from France
Carrying a fifth of whiskey
In a dirty paper bag
Threw the ball to home
But they always missed the tag
Faded old glory hanging like a rag
Defenders, defenders of the flag

16. SC must have something in the water...
Strom Thurmond started the modern legacy...
http://www.blackcommentator.com/21_re_print.html

And Thurmond, in supporting a black woman he supposedly sired, remained loyal to one of the codes of his youth, said Bennettsville lawyer Frank E. Cain, a classmate of the woman purported to be the senator's daughter at South Carolina State in the late 1940s.
That code required white boys, who often learned about sex "on the colored side of town," to take care of any children they fathered. "It's just a carry-over from slavery where the white landlord had his black family," Cain said recently. "That's the old South."
Thurmond, he said, sprang from those plantation roots. "Thurmond hated black folks," Cain contends. "I think his reasons for helping Essie were strictly personal." The woman widely believed to be Thurmond's black daughter is Essie Mae Washington, born in Thurmond's native Edgefield in 1925.

Some of you may remember John Jenerette (and Rita) who had sex on the capital steps...
http://www.congressionalbadboys.com/Jenrette.htm

Rita is probably best known for (1) telling us that she and John had sex on the steps of the U.S. Capitol (and that became a hot stop on the Washington Sex Scandals tour for out-of-towners; and perhaps the inspiration for the song and satire group called "The Capitol Steps"); and (2) posing nude in Playboy. She also wrote, later, about ex-husband John: she found him on Capitol Hill "drunk, undressed and lying on the floor in the arms of a woman who I knew was old enough to be his mother."

Now we have Mark Sanford on the "Appalachian Trail" and a 66 year-old Roland Corning in the cemetery.

Doesn't anyone wonder what else has gone on that was never reported?!

21. other websites I have been reading on this say
there was initially a cover up about this attempted by the officer, who is married to an aide in the perp's office.
It took the initial news source some time to get the documented info for this. One wonders how many other coverups like this take place every day amongst politicians in small towns.
I also read that the perp initially squealed his tires when the police first saw him, and drove off, than was apprehended later for questioning (obviously hiding something).
This is all over the web now, ha ha ha ha ha.
another hypocrite.

22. I expect he'll sue the state
Getting fired for doing nothing wrong, committing no crime? On the surface, it seems like it might be worth suing.

If anybody did "wrong", it was the cop, for giving his wife more info than necessary to verify the guy's employment. And the cop's wife was sleazy, spreading the story to her boss.

Nothing happened (that we know of) worth losing a job over.

30. He Was Investigating A Crime

He was given an ID from the State Attorney's office.

He called an employee of the State Attorney's office to verify that claim.

The fact that said employee was his wife is absolutely irrelevant. He could have called anyone in the State Attorney's office to investigate the claim that was made to him.
