Anybody here old enough to remember the Xmas of 1965 in SC?

I remember that Xmas vacation from school was very warm, so warm we went around wearing shorts. :-)

This was in Lowcountry SC but I expect the whole state was fairly warm during that warm spell.

I also seem to remember a hurricane in the early 60's. I lived on Sheldon Rd. (near the Ashley river) and went to St. Andrews Elementary, then moved to James Island. Eventually went college in Greenville (Furman).

I bought my first transistor radio about that time - listened to WTMA (tiger radio).

2. I remember Hurricane Gracie, that was Sept. 1959. There were some other

hurricanes back then that smacked SC, but I can't remember the names.

3. I remember Gracie, I lived in Augusta, just over the river

Only 6 years old but I remember that day easily. Lightning from the storm hit a giant pine tree across the street and ricocheted to another in our front yard. The little creek behind our house, 3' wide turned into the Mississippi. In '67 I lived in N Augusta and we had snow that winter.

4. Gracie and Hazel

Those were the two big hurricanes in the 60s. I think it was Hazel that wiped out all the small houses on the Grand Strand, so that they rebuilt with high rise hotels and building standards.

D'oh, now everyone knows my age.

But I'm here, have been forever it seems, in the Lowcountry. Charleston area, to be exact.

There are warm days, there are damn hot days, and lately there are some pretty effin cold days.

We've had, since 65, a major hurricane, Hugo; our only white Christmas, that same year, and even a pretty substantial tornado or two.

But we do get our warm spells. Supposed to be having one of those soon, according to the weather guys on tv. It wasn't today, that's for sure. This has been a cooold winter so far.
