Anti-Abortion Groups Accused of Violating Non-Profit Status
"A Washington DC watch-dog group is accusing two of the groups backing South Dakota's ban on almost all abortions of operating illegally. Wednesday morning a complaint was filed with the Internal Revenue Service against The Alpha Center, The National Abstinence Clearinghouse and their leader, Leslie Unruh.

"As the abortion debate ran it's course though the South Dakota legislature, Leslie Unruh of the Abstinence Clearinghouse and the Alpha Center was one of the most vocal proponents.

"Now the group, Citizens for Responsibility and Ethics in Washington has filed a complaint against Unruh and both organizations charging they lobbied more than a non-profit group is allowed to by law. Melanie Sloan is the Executive Director. "The National Abstinence Clearinghouse and the Alpha Center are really not allowed to engage in more than about 5% of their time lobbying. But even more problematic is they filed on their tax forms that they file with the IRS, they said they engaged in absolutely no lobbying."

They are going after non-profit churches as well.

2. Judge commits suicide
Why did South Dakota Judge Lee D. Anderson commit suicide September 19th? The court issued a gag order for no information surrounding the death to be released to the public.
