1. Many of us are just now hearing about it
and starting to digest the news. This is a pretty slow forum, anyway. Welcome to DU!

3. sorry to use this spot but I can't start a thread yet
Powertech Uranium Corporation based in Vancouver, British Columbia has purchased around 13,000 acres of the Black Hills and have been granted a permit to start exploration drills. The process they use to mine uranium is called In Situ Leach mining and contaminates the groundwater. For those familliar with the Black Hills you know that it is a sacred place to the Lakota people. One of the areas they will be doing this is in the Hot Springs area.

I could go on for a while about this but if you want to know more I have setup a website with forums and keep everything I have collected about this issue there.

Mount Rushmore is located in the Black Hills for those that aren't familiar with the area and I hope it doesn't come to this foreign corporation drilling into Washington's head for people to actually care about this issue.

The Black Hills are truly a national treasure and it is sickening that we are going to sell out our land to foreign uranium interests. Please join me in screaming about this to our lawmakers and media people.

4. Johnson seems to be recovering
The word on Johnson is that he has recovered well enough that he has resumed working, albeit from a hospital.
