1. I hope they do that
they promised to do that on I 37 (in fact, I 37 was built with that in mind) for Hurricane Brett, but they never did. This, despite the fact that Brett was headed directly for Corpus, despite the fact that traffic was bumper-to-bumper from CC to San Antonio, somehow the state & local officials said "it can't be done." :grr: So, traffic remained stacked northbound, while the southbound lanes were completely bare.

A few weeks later, though, it was done in Florida & the Carolinas so people could get away from hurricanes in those areas.

3. 4 MPH on I-10 last night
I wish they had opened the contra-flow lanes sooner.

We live in Austin. My husband had a gig in Houston last night. The restaurant shut down early and the band found themselves headed home at 9:30.

At 6:30 this morning, they had progressed only 20ish miles.
