I don't know the date of this, but thought it can't be too old.

TX: Heated Primaries Inspire Hot Early-Year Fundraising

Texas candidates who are running in competitive primary elections on March 7 — the first major election of this year’s House campaign — have ramped up their fundraising and spending leading up to the balloting, according to campaign finance reports just filed with the Federal Election Commission.

Rep. Tom DeLay, the former House Majority Leader, has an overwhelming fundraising advantage over three much lesser-known primary challengers in the Houston-area 22nd District, where is he seeking a 12th term.

DeLay reported raising $155,000 in the six-week period between Jan. 1 and Feb. 15, according to his FEC report. DeLay spent about $305,000 in the period and had $1.3 million cash on hand. His campaign is carrying about $110,000 in debt.

DeLay’s chief challenger appears to be Tom Campbell, a lawyer and former counsel to the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration. Campbell, a first-time candidate, reported raising $79,000 in the period and $137,000 overall (including $54,000 in contributions Campbell made to his own campaign). He had $17,000 left to spend.

Some of Campbell’s more notable contributors included Utah Gov. Jon Huntsman Jr. and New Mexico lawyer Pete V. Domenici Jr., the namesake son of the veteran Republican senator.

Republican Pat Baig, a retired credit manager, reported $56,000 in receipts for the period, nearly all of which came in the form of personal loans. Her total personal loans to her campaign include $72,485.

A report was not available for Michael Fjetland, a lawyer who challenged DeLay in the 2000 and 2002 primaries. He had raised $34,270 through the end of last year, including a $20,000 in contributions he made to his own campaign.
