Damn that Bob J. Perry! - Houston developer
We have got to do something to expose this guy. We need some research on him and we have got to get some letters to the papers and start educating people about this asshole. This guy is our next Ken Lay or worse another Leininger. He and David Weekly homes pretty much bought and paid for Prop 12 - the corporate criminal protection act.

Here's the latest story that has me seething about this creep in DU LBN
Vietnam Veterans Buy Ads to Attack Kerry
http://www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.php?az=view_all&address=102x729378
"Tax documents show that from April to June, the group collected $158,750 from 11 people, $100,000 of it from Bob J. Perry, a Houston developer who is a major contributor to Republican campaigns."

Is this guy even a Vietnam veteran? We need to find out.

That's not all folks. A while back when I went to a campaign finance reform forum here in Austin, we found out that this guy Perry is the top individual donor in Texas during the 2002 legislative races.

The top 6 individual money donors for 2002 are:
1) Bob Perry (homebuilder) Perry Homes
2) James Leininger (voucher wingnut)
3) Albert D. Huddleston (?)
4) Bo Pilgrim (chicken wingnut)
5) Bob McNair (Houston sports team)
6) John O. Quinn (trial lawyer) This one is ours - Democrat

1. Huddleston
Found him quoted on two sites as a "hate-mongerer." Now that's a word for you.

And it's John O'Quinn. The corporate attorney's nightmare. I love him so.

2. Thanks texastoast
Huddleston - Hyperion Resources. Yep that TPJ article on hate-mongering was good. Texans for Public Justice were at that campaign finance forum and Craig McDonald made that summary about the top 50 individual donors.

I wasn't maligning John O'Quinn. He was the highest individual Democratic donor in the top 50. Only one of two trial lawyers. So just goes to show you the repuke's "trail lawyer" claim is just a myth. In Texas it's all developers who don't like being sued for shoddy work.

I found some more dirt too on Perry which is super evil person I want more information on. I really want to find out what if any military background he has, if any. Since he's 75% of the funding behind the Vets Against Kerry ad.

From Follow the Money (Bob J. Perry)
Total Given to Date: $2,983,500 (280 records) All in 2002 in Texas!!
http://www.followthemoney.org/database/StateGlance/contributor.phtml?si=200243&d=562077
$250,000 to Greg Abbott alone.

And here is an old site some of the lawsuits against Perry Homes

3. Found this
I'm new to searching military records, so you might already know about this.

I found a search engine here.

http://www.archives.gov/facilities/mo/st_louis/military_personnel_records/standard_form_180.html

And the form to request military records here.

http://www.archives.gov/research_room/obtain_copies/standard_form_180.pdf

Yeah, O'Quinn kicks ass for the little guy. And, yes, he has made multimillions doing it (and risked multimillions doing it), but the whole damn country is much safer because of lawyers like him who have a heart.

5. Those are great links texastoast
I am definitely writing our local paper about this scumbag. He's a Texas problem and more people need to know that Bob Perry has bought and paid for the TX Legislature and Attorney General. And now he has the gall to attack Kerry's military service.

I love trial lawyers - John Edwards is my latest love. He did good by his clients.

4. Tell Perry Homes what you think about their support
of the Swift Vets.

When you get to the site, be sure to check "Information on a new Perry Home" - your comments will be read.

6. Thanks Imalittleteapot
I'm writing a letter to the editor to try to expose this creep. There are Perry Homes in Austin as well. Good citizens of Austin should not be buying these homes. This guy is a partisan creep, that would be good enough reason for me to shout boycott, but he apparently does shoddy home building work as well.

The truth about his hold on political power in Texas is making the news rounds. He owns Rick Perry and Gregg Abbott lock stock and gun barrel.

Texas homebuilder, GOP donor helps finance anti-Kerry veterans' group

Perry's June donation accounted for most of the $158,750 that Swift Boat Veterans for Truth, founded in April, reported raising as of June 30. John Krugh, a spokesman for Perry Homes, declined to comment on Perry's contribution.
(/snip)
(snip) He is also a major giver in Texas. A 2002 study by the campaign finance watchdog group Texans for Public Justice ranked Perry as the No. 3 donor in the state that election cycle, with at least $1.5 million in contributions to Republican candidates and political action committees in Texas.
