War Stories at a very red precinct.
Went to a P convention 'bout 15 years ago and maybe 5 people showed. Usually have between 30-50 primary voters. By 9:30 had more voters than in the last two primaries combined. Two days ago I got nervous about the convention. The room the Republicans gracsiously let us have is 20x40 feet to seat three precincts--they took a small cloak room. Just in case I got permission to use the main chapel of the little church--seats 250. It was full. No, I mean it was full with two precincts. The third used the 20x40 foot room.

End vote for the three precincts was 'bout 650 (not counting early) and had 250 conventioners.

R's normally outvote D's by 10:1 but today D's passed the R's by 10%.

Can't say enough nice about the loyal opposition. The Repub Judge loaned me clerks when we were slammed and voluntarily gave up the larger room they were entitled to. Loaned me her bi-lingual clerk so I was legal--couldn't find one as they were all taken.

My first chair at a convention. Had a cheat sheet and a lot of time to keep every body pumped while the sign in sheets were done and such. I shoulda' been a preacher. Felt so natural at a pulpit with a microphone.

Beginning to mumble. Have another beer and to to sleep . . .
