I'll miss Texas DU'ers. I won't see you in Austin.
I was fortunate to get nominated in absentia last night at my precinct convention because I was closing polls at another location. There was spirited competition for the full delegate positions, but somehow I survived. But I anticipate my caucus will only get two positions to move on to State, and among my caucus of choice was a popular elected official (hint: "El Gobernado"), a winner on yesterday's ballot, and name from the '06 primary ballot. With competition like that, I don't see myself going to State. I made the last two conventions, but with all these high-profile newbies, I know I won't make it.

2. When you get to Senatorial, why not put your name in as an At-Large Delegate?
That's my plan. I'm only an alternate at Senatorial, thanks to some folks who apparently don't think a precinct chair should try to maintain decorum at a precinct caucus. So I'll let the folks in my home precinct decide who's going to represent Dallas 1143 at State, and I'm going to submit my name for the At-Large contingent.

I'm scheduled to run a caucus at Austin, anyway, so it would be nice if I find a way to make it onto the convention floor as long as I'm down there.

Will you at least think about it? Ginny and I would miss you.

3. I'm going to Senatorial as an alternate
We had so many who wanted to go, I let the newcomers go as delegates. I signed myself up as an alternate to fill out one of the caucuses, so we'll have a full roster.

4. Yes, like derby says, try to get in as an at-large.
Anyway, you can always come down as a volunteer. If I don't get in, that's my plan! :hi:
