1. Nice stories all across Texas
So why in the hell do people want to get rid of our caucus system, when it means you get to meet your neighbors. I think we just need to improve the procedures so that more people can come and caucus. I would hope that after the lines we experienced on election day that most people now understand that early voting is the way to go. If at least 80% of us took advantage of the early voting systems, all the caucused would have gotten started on time and even more people could have stuck it out.

2. I had a blast
Then again, I wasn't in Sandra Crenshaw's district.

But still, I think everyone is fired up for November. Sure, not everyone can caucus, but not everyone is expected to caucus! Caucuses are for people who are motivated to put in the extra effort (which is why they favored Obama, IMO).

3. Absolutely
And frankly I think we need to keep the grassroots wing of the party motivated. Hate them or love them the caucuses are a great way to get to know your neighbors. I think the only thing that can really be improved upon is educating people in the party about what the system is for. These caucuses happen every two years. It's not just during a presidential election year. And they're not just beauty contests - it's for the important work of the party. This is how we change our party rules, elect SDEC members and the party officers. That's the real core of the caucus system.

I feel that the new members this year that were inspired by the campaigns will stay involved. I keep saying this but those of us that are considered "veterans" on this board were newbies just four years ago. My first state convention was 2004 when Howard Dean ran and the new people at the convention that year were almost half of the delegates to the state convention. At this year's state convention I would not be surprised to see that three fourths of the attendees are first time convention delegates. And that is something to celebrate.

:toast: To the new Texas Democratic Party!
