2. A PAC should seriously take out ads next time
A "Stop Gene Kelly" PAC specifically formed to take out ads pointing out that Gene Kelly the dancer is dead. And that the Gene Kelly running for anything in Texas is just a big jackass.

No better yet, we need a documentary done that will be funny and catch lots of attention about how this guy abuses the reputation of a much beloved actor/dancer.

Someone needs to send The Daily Show an idea about the stupidity of some voters. Jon could make it funny.

Now that Al Edwards is coming back to the Lege, will the banning sexy cheerleaders bill be making a comeback too?

3. Apperently Noriega's campaign didn't take the primary seriously enough
He barely avoided a runoff. Not a good sign of things to come.

5. Kelly would be a horrible nominee
I find it disturbing that he does as well as he does.

6. WTF?
Didn't take the primary seriously enough! Have you been hiding under a rock? He did a tour of Texas and he was just about everywhere he could be. Considering the state was blasted with the contested presidential campaigns, voters barely had enough time to figure out who else to vote for. The fact that he survived a runoff in a race with 3 other candidate is a great achievement.

:wtf: seriously dude, you are such a pessimist.

7. It might be worse
Not to go all Freddie Stubbs, but look at this map:

http://gregsopinion.com/2008Prim_Senate/tx.htm

Now if Greg is accurate, and if I'm reading him right ...

That map says that Rick Noriega got less than one-third of Democratic primary voters in bright blue places like Beaumont/Port Arthur (Jefferson), Corpus (Calhoun/Matagorda), and Tyler/Longview (Smith/Gregg). All of East Texas would appear to be one very large uh-oh.

Rick is going to have to do some heavy stumping, from the Coastal Bend to the mouth of the Sabine and all the way up to Texarkana. Probably he ought to get started right away.

8. Corpus Christi is Nueces County (not Calhoun/Matagorda) and Nueces gave 58% of its vote to Noriega

9. Ah, thank you.
I met many good progressives from Corpus in Austin a couple of weekends ago, and that conclusion left many particularly stunned. I just moused over the wrong counties on that map, thinking Corpus was in one of them.

10. As a Galveston County resident....
Edited on Sat Mar-08-08 01:29 AM by Lisa0825
I never saw a single ad for Rick, and I think I might have gotten one mailer. He did speak at an event I went to in Texas City, but it was the type of thing that folks who already knew him would attend, not something that an average voter would learn about him from. I got emails from his campaign, but I assume that was only because I signed up. I assume that few down here knew who he was, other than those of us who are die hards and keep up with all the races.

11. Thanks for your insight. You folks in Galveston sure did a heck of a great job turning out to vote

Barack Obama - 18,394 (46.77%)

Gene Kelly - 11,698 (40.70%)
Ray McMurrey - 3,147 (10.95%)
Rick Noriega - 11,285 (39.26%)
Rhett Smith - 2,608 (9.07%)

Art Hall - 4,618 (17.76%)
Dale Henry - 6,501 (25.01%
Mark Thompson - 14,872 (57.21%)

Jim Jordan - 23,219 (100.00%)

Baltasar Cruz - 11,206 (42.90%)
Sam Houston - 14,914 (57.09%)

Susan Criss - 22,628 (72.92%)
Linda Yanez - 8,400 (27.07%)

Susan Strawn - 23,389 (100.00%)

J.R. Molina - 23,737 (100.00%)
