Delegates: How to run for National Delegate, a practical guide.
With over 3000 applications for 250+ possible slots for National Delegate up for grabs, I thought I would write a practical guide for those considering running.

When campaigning at your Senate district caucus, or in front of the nominations committee here are some ideas that can help you.

1. Have someone nominate you. If you have to nominate yourself, rethink running.

2. Introduce yourself. (for those of you who have been working your butts off for the last decade, you can skip this since everyone knows you already)

3. Detail what you have done for the party for at least the last 4 years. If you haven't been active, rethink running.

4. Detail the local campaigns you have worked on over the last 4 years. Include city races, state races, even local campaigns within your community. Talk about the long hours of block walking in the hot sun and the thousands of phone calls you made at the HQs. If you have none, rethink running.

5. Detail the clubs you are involved with including any positions you have held. If you are not a member, rethink running.

6. Detail any activist activity you have been involved in including voter registration, activistm for womens rights, consumer, etc. If you have none, rethink running.

7. Detail time spent on activities such as testifying in Austin, lobbying your elected officials, etc.

Then sit back and watch the votes roll in!

1. Hey, John
can I have your permission to shoot a copy of this to those people I've never heard of (and probably won't, again), who keep e-mailing me resumes, of their last four months of Democratic dedication?
