Found this in this morning's email, dated 11:35 pm Monday night, subject line: From One Democrat to Another (highlights mine)

Fellow Democrat:

As we approach the 2010 election cycle, we should take pride in the resurgence of the Democratic Party as the dominate party in Dallas County. Citizens have put their faith, hope, and trust in democratic elected officials to provide the concerted leadership necessary to maintain our county government, judiciary, and criminal justice systems.

We know that the best is yet to come if we continue to work as a team! The team approach requires cooperation between elected officials.

I assert and hope you agree with me, that the best interest of the citizens in Dallas County and the Democratic Party are far more important than the self interests of any one elected official.

Know this, that no elected official is indispensable! If you agree with this assertion, I ask that you email me an acknowledgement.

but I live in East Texas (rural). It reads like a commentary on the ethics stuff in Dallas to me. The timing fits.

3. He's the state senator for the 23rd senatorial district

I imagine it just went out to the 23rd, and I just wonder if it's aimed at any one candidate or incumbent. So it's probably ethics stuff, and I'm in Dallas, but don't quite know what to make of it.

Interestingly enough, I googled "Royce West email" and this thread is on the first page already, haha.

For the record, I'm not in the 23rd.

I can think of two people he might be talking about. First, might he be preparing to come out against Terri Hodge? (Or am I misremembering and has he already endorsed her?)

Second, might he be preparing to come out against Darlene Ewing? There were rumors a few months ago that she might have an opponent.

Also for the record: I hate it when people pull this manipulative bullshit. Just cowboy up and say what you're talking about!

Hi ho, we will probably find out at the next CEC meeting anyway. Now I'm wondering if this is going to be one of THOSE meetings? Should I pack a flask?

Sure, bring a flask and maybe I'll bring one, too! lol! By the way, I just heard today that some of our local people talked to the Austin about their plan to run somebody against Darlene, and the opponent dropped out "for now," anyway.
