I don't expect them to take my advice, however.

2. I Agree...I'm Not Already Saying He Broke The Law But....
I still think that being indited on this does "taint" the money and one might be prudent to give it back. Just my opinion.

3. The standard isn't PROOF
The standard for public office holders is:

"...the appearance of impropriety..."

Public officials have to avoid not only impropriety but also the appearance of impropriety because it undermines the trust of the public in government in general. Delay should resign because he has failed this test, and, Green, Ryan and Senslessbrenner should either return the money or face the stigma of the appearance of impropriety.

7. Its just
Such a low amount which is why I'm puzzled. Why would you give someone 20 dollars, what, did Sensenbrenner forget his wallet and Delay had to cover him for his dinner tab?

6. I received this email today re Green:
I found it interesting that Green has transfered money from his Congressional campaign to his gubernatorial campaign -

Republican House Majority Leader Tom DeLay Indicted:

Will Mark Green Finally Return Criminal Money?

Contact Congressman Green Today, and Tell Him to Give Back the More Than

$30,000 in Illegal Money He’s Received From Scandal-Plagued Texas Politician

Today, a Texas grand jury indicted House Republican Majority Leader Tom DeLay on charges of conspiracy in a campaign finance scheme, after earlier this month indicting DeLay’s Texans for a Republican Majority PAC (TRMPAC) for illegally accepting a $100,000 contribution from special interests. DeLay, who was forced to step down today from his leadership post, also faces serious ethics charges that have been filed in Washington, D.C.

Now that DeLay has been indicted, will Congressman Mark Green finally return the $30,000 in criminal money he’s taken from the ethically-challenged Majority Leader?

Mark Green has accepted more than $30,000 from committees controlled by the indicted DeLay. Earlier this year, Green took advantage of a loophole in state law to illegally transfer $1.3 million from his congressional campaign account to his gubernatorial campaign account. Those funds include perhaps as much as $800,000 in laundered special interest money – including the more than $30,000 in criminal money from DeLay.

But despite serious criminal and ethics charges, Green has continued to stand by Tom DeLay. In light of today’s indictment, Mark Green should finally do the right thing and return DeLay’s illegal money.

Mark Green needs to hear from you today!

Mark Green’s continued support of Tom DeLay and his refusal to return this criminal money raise serious questions about Green’s own ethics. If Mark Green is committed to honest government, then he will immediately return this illegal money.

Call Mark Green today, and tell him to show Wisconsin citizens he’s committed to honest government by returning the tainted money he’s received from the scandal-plagued Texas politician. Tell him this dirty money doesn’t belong in Wisconsin.

Call his office toll free: (800)773-8579

Or contact him via e-mail at: mark.green@mail.house.gov
