I reposted this because I'm ashamed of some people in my adopted home state of Wisconsin.

1. The damn thing is this ploy continues to work ....

I recently attended a listening session for Congressman Kind. About one out of two speakers mentioned the "horrors" of gays in our society.

In one of the moments of ultimate frustration for a Democratic activist, a gentleman stood and spoke at length about the shortsightedness of underfunding education, the need for new solutions for health care, and the plight of the "working man" in the era of globalization, and then, without so much as a nod at the irony, he proceeded to state that gays aren't real "Muricans" and should be "knocked in the head".

It just about gave me a whiplash ...

A lot of these people are getting their hatred from their church.
Their CHURCH! :banghead:

No wonder people hate Christians. I know I do.

4. Possible politically shrewd move

Unfortunately, it's a good bet this thing will pass through. I would like to see the Dems propose an attachment so the state officially recognizes civil unions. The GOP may not let it out committee, but let them take a vote on it and see where each individual stands. Then our side can prove that it is homophobia fueling this effort.

The Dems are often too defensive, back on their heels. Find a way to be proactive. Like on the Voter ID bill, add a rider to outlaw paperless voting! But that's for another thread.

It's going to be hard though because the Repubs can prevent it with their majority in both houses.

is on the hands of Julainne Appling, the Christian Taliban, and every legislator who voted to support this kind of fear, anger, and hate.
