Fighting Bob names Senator Judy Robson 'Person of the Year'

FightBob.com, a website of progressive commentary, has named Sen. Judy Robson one of its two “People of the Year.”

The web site’s editors selected Robson for her “vision and courage” on health care reform. As Senate minority leader, Robson made health care reform a priority. Democrats took control of the Senate under her leadership, and introduced Healthy Wisconsin, legislation to ensure quality, affordable health care for all.

“Robson took a seemingly intractable problem, helped develop a solution, and catapulted the solution to a place where it suddenly seems hopeful,” the editors said in announcing the award.

“Healthy Wisconsin did not make it into the final budget bill this time, but some day it will be the law in Wisconsin,” the editors wrote. “When that day comes, we will all have Judy Robson … to thank.” (For the entire article, please see FightBob.com)

The editors noted that affordable health care is the most important challenge confronting Wisconsin and the United States. Universal access to health care is a given in almost every other Western industrialized nation. But in the United States, those who profit off the status quo fight every attempt at reform.

The other honoree for the “People of the Year” award was Jeremy Schall, whose book on the Blackwater corporation has exposed the failures of this war contractor.

“FightingBob.com is a respected crusader for progressive causes and so it is truly an honor to be recognized for my work in advancing health care reform,” Robson said.
