1. Life's not fun if you live in a place where you can't find a job.
Guess the new police chief wasn't nearby.

2. So sad this is happening... not much coverage either
Milwaukee has 1 in 3 children living in proverty and 45% unemployment for blacks in city

Sad that we as Americans are letting this happen to our citizens along with the deterioration of all the cities' infrastructure!

3. I found an interesting article about Milwaukee's unemployment
It's not very new, but shocking. It's a good read.

http://www.jsonline.com/story/index.aspx?id=166013

Incredibly, according to the 2000 census, over 50% of black working age males in the city of Milwaukee are either unemployed or not even in the labor force. In short, for black Milwaukeeans, the current employment crisis is nothing short of a "stealth depression."

How did this happen?

Three factors help us understand why Milwaukee's labor market is in such dire straits. First, there has been a continuing erosion of the city's industrial base. During the decade of the 1990s alone, Milwaukee lost 21% of its manufacturing jobs. Plant closings and layoffs at Johnson Controls, Miller Brewing, Briggs and Stratton, Tower Automotive and Master Lock were a central part of the city's late-1990s employment collapse.

4. Do you think that these plant closings have any thing to do with
the industries that support the Republican party. I can't think of the right name something MMC? Let's infuse this town with the green tech to replace those jobs. I know the mayor wants to go green. Anyone have suggestions as to what needs to happen before this tech. get off the ground?

7. Start bringing back REAL jobs, instead of just fucking consulting crap.
It would be really nice to have a green boom here. It would also be nice to have companies that actually still offered healthcare instead of pussying out and going to "consultants." Do I sound bitter?

6. Will the right wing use this to bring up concealed carry again?
Here's a refutation that I think is interesting.

First, it has been said time and time again how most of the gun shootings stem from gang members feuding with other members. Since both sides are armed, would this be a version of concealed carry, albeit not a legal one? Even though these gangsters know the other side is probably armed, this does nothing to slow them down from taking shots at each other. Why would the CCW proponents think that regular citizens being armed would slow these people down from using guns on them?

Secondly, as the CCW proponents are fond of pointing out, Wisconsin is one of the two or three states that don't have concealed carry laws. Yet in the last week or so, we have seen mass shootings in Chicago, Los Angeles, Baton Rouge and Kirkwood, MO. None of these shooters seemed to detered by the possibility of citizens having guns. Heck, even the shooters in L.A. and Kirkwood weren't detered by the police, who obviously have guns and extensive training in their use.
