Dear Winter:
1. You are hereby notified that I have had it.
2. You and your fluffy white minions must CEASE AND DESIST. I'm not really sure what CEASE AND DESIST means in this context. I mean, I don't want you to melt all at once and flood everything. How about this: Just go away. You figure out how.
3. Should you not comply immediately, I think I will file a complaint in Federal District Court for an injunction, just to see what happens. Assuming someone spots me the filing fee.

Thank you for your prompt attention to this matter.

Sincerely,

Me.

I am totally on board with this. Can we make it a class action lawsuit should you proceed? :)

2. That's a bang-up idea.
I think I'm actually going to use this tomorrow in my Civil Procedure class (I'm a sort-of TA, leading a review session).

5. Count me in - it's getting ridiculous!
Maybe we can pass the hat for the filing fee.

My LP tank is buried behind great walls of snow and the fuel level is getting lower. With more of the same coming this weekend, I don't have a clue how I'm going to get a refill.

6. Winter poetry
This amusing bit of verse was penned by someone named Capper, a frequent contributor to the blog run by Folkbum that provides valuable observations on education and politics in Milwaukee and Wisconsin. http://folkbum.blogspot.com/

Why I Love Wisconsin ...

It's winter in Wisconsin
And the gentle breezes blow,
70 miles per hour at 52 below!
Oh, how I love Wisconsin
When the snow's up to your butt.
You take a breath of winter air
And your nose is frozen shut.
Yes, the weather here is wonderful,
I guess I'll hang around.
I could never leave Wisconsin,
'Cause I'm frozen to the ground.

So how late does this crap usually come? Just for the newbie, you know. So I can get a handle on what I'm looking at the next few months.

11. Usually last blizzard of the season is in March, but...
Edited on Mon Feb-18-08 03:35 PM by sybylla
We have been known to get snow as late as Mother's day in a bad year.

My biggest fear is that all this precip will turn to rain and we'll finish the season with massive flooding. Not to be pessimistic or anything.

12. I'm kicking myself right now.
I had two weeks I could have tried to do some more research, but wasn't sure what the job sitch was going to present, and wondered about gas usage.

Now, I have 2 business days left to get to the courthouse in Monroe before I start the new job, and it looks like I may be stuck here because of the roads since it's gonna freeze like a mofo tomorrow. I'm keeping an eye on everything, just in case. There are more walls that need busting down, dammit!

16. We had 2 inches of snow at a track meet in late May
Very cold, too. In the '70s, we had snow at the 4th of July parade (up north).

Welcome to Wisco weather.
