Just back from the Founder's Day Gala
If the crowd reaction is any indication at all, I think Obama can chalk this one up in the "W" column. Hillary's speech was well received, but Obama had the crowd on their feet from the get-go. Now it may be a matter of perception, because Hillary went first and several of her supporters left after her speech. But during her remarks, there was a cadre of 15-20 people in the center of the room who stood and applauded. But during Barak's speech, it seemed like half the room was standing. On the Applause-O-Meter, the evening definitely went to him.

1. Barbara Lawtons' dedication to Maryls was terrific
She sat with us at Maryls' service yesterday. I just adore her. (Dave Obey gave the eulogy and it was heartfelt and moving)

There's a rumor floating around that if Obama gets the White House he's going to ask Doyle to be Atty. General. That way Barbara would be our Governor, which would be fantastic. My guess the rumor is just someones wishful thinking but Doyle would be a great Atty General and Barbara would be a great Governor.

I thought both candidates did a great job last night and I will be thrilled to have either one win in November.

Although I did notice that Clinton forgot to mention Obey at the begining of her speech when she was talking about all our great elected officials in DC from Wisconsin.

2. Well, that works for me
I think Feingold would be a much better AG, but I don't want to give him up as Senator. It wouldn't surprise me to see Obama offer Doyle a post and I would be delighted to have Barbara Lawton as Governor.

4. She would be great
I had the pleasure of meeting Lt. Gov. Lawton at the DPW convention in 2006, back when I still was a member of the party. I was really impressed, and I think she'd make a great governor.

Doyle would be a heck of a lot better than other attorney's general in the last several years, and I suspect he'd sail through on confirmation.

That would explain some of his support for Obama, which surprised me when I first heard it, not that there's anything wrong with it.

5. Her husband seems nice too
We talked to him during that 2006 convention. He seemed like a very supportive helper rather than a dynamic campaigner.

6. It is possible that Wisconsin has more Democratic elected officials then most.
Our county party chairs haven't remembered everyone of them at our monthly meetings.
