Sabotage? Caledonia Man Claims He, and Others, Plan to Shred Signed Walker Recall Petitions
Original story: Residents who signed legitimate recall petitions may never have them counted by the Government Accountability Board.

A Caledonia resident, who asked not to have his name used, told Caledonia Patch that he and at least two other people in Racine are collecting signatures to recall Scott Walker, but have no intention of turning them into the GAB. Instead, they want people to think they've signed the petition, but not actually have their signatures count.

They are doing this to sabotage the recall effort, the resident said.

“The Democrats put this out there and they made some mistakes,” the man said. “If you go to their Facebook page, you can download the petition from right there. I’m sure they are counting how many are being downloaded, but just because they are printed, don’t mean they’ll be used … It’s not illegal to collect them and not turn them in.”

But this may be a gray area. Reid Magney, a spokesman from Wisconsin's Government Accountability Board, told a reporter with Mother Jones that “destroying or defacing an official recall petition would violate state law. (Here's the relevant statute.) Such a violation, he adds, would be a class I felony in Wisconsin, which carries a maximum fine of $10,000 and up to three-and-a-half years in jail.”

I hope to get at least 5000. And then I'm going to put them in a barrel and light them on fire as me and my friends sit around and laugh!

HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!!!!!

Oh, by the way, there's eight of us doing this.

HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!!!!

Eight, in my group only. Plenty more groups!

HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!!!!

Oh, and if you think maybe you signed one of our bogus recalls, and decide to sign another, look out! Because if you happen to sign two legit recall slips, they get challenged and thrown out! Yes, they are checked.

HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!!!!

Don't you just hate it when all the smart people are on the other side?

HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!!!!

I know some of this is simply BS, but stuff like this always makes me wonder...
If I had a Craigslist account, I'd remind him/her:
This crime falls under Chapter 12 of the Wisconsin Statutes: Prohibited Election Practices.

Police said statute 12.13(3)(A) reads: "Falsify(ing) any information in respect to or fraudulently deface or destroy a certificate of nomination, nomination paper, declaration of candidacy or petition for an election, including a recall petition or petition for a referendum or file or receive for filing a certificate of nomination, nomination paper, declaration of candidacy or any such petition, knowing any part is falsely made."

Police said a violation of 12.13(3)(A) is a Class I felony with a fine not to exceed $10,000 or imprisonment not to exceed three years and six months, or both.

4. Somebody grabbed a petition from a circulator on Midvale Blvd

in Madison today and ripped it. She got it back, got his license plate number, and reported it. This was on the news, as was a clip from Kennedy saying that what he did was illegal. So now everybody knows you can get arrested for tearing a single petition with 3 signatures on it. Is it really worth it? People better control their anger.

And if you sign two, they only count one. They don't throw both out.
