Anyone interested in DU at the farm?
I've got a 76 acre "hobby farm" between Milwaukee and Madison and would consider hosting a weekend for DU'ers, if not this summer then next.

If you are interested in helping brainstorm, plan or help identify the logistical considerations please PM me.

My ideas include having something of a large picnic, maybe inviting some state/national democratic speakers, maybe trying to get a camp Wellstone event, etc.

1. Love the idea
however, I will admit I have no organizational skills. I will follow this notion eagerly though.

2. Sounds cool. I might be able to help...
...with speakers or musical acts. Keep me posted.

14. Thanks. I was thinking we could perhaps get a flatbed trailer
as a stage. Half the farm is the west side of a hill that would make a sort of natural theater. Electricity would need to be figured out...I've got a mid-sized generator, though it is somewhat noisy.

27. That sounds great. A nice generator can be rented pretty cheap.
Just to clarify, though, I meant political speakers, not audio speakers. When I went back and read my post, it didn't seem clear.

NGU.

15. Thanks, at this stage I am open to all input...
I've never hosted anything that might be large enough for port-a-potties.

6. The word "motivated" and "rainbow" so rarely go together.
The Gathering is happening on the east coast this year... possibly Virginia. Are you going to be there?

8. Too far and I am too poor.
About the motivated rainbow connection... I see connections most people miss. :D For me, gardening is political! Baby sitting is political.

I will be with everybody in spirit. Wish I could go. Would be nice to be around people who realize Rush is a preformer instead of some sage!

18. Well, people have to eat something or it won't be a picnic
As to beer, this IS Wisconsin! If it was a bunch of folks it might require some sort of permit, I've never done this so I need to check with someone who knows the law.

19. Unless you call the event 'Weedstock'...
...you don't have to worry until you get over a thousand people or so, IIRC.

It's about the same point where the health codes start requiring a certain number of porta-potties, etc..

However, IANAL.
