The U.S. media and Harper's "win".
Has anybody been paying attention to the so-called "liberal" American media last night and today? They have been trumpeting the supposed "move" to the right by Canada. With the newspaper headlines and the way the talking heads on TV have been talking, you would have thought the Cons have won an outright majority. I just bet that the neocon talk show hosts like Pig Man Limbaugh and Baby Jesus Hannity were tinkling in their pants over this. The mainstream media scantly mentioned that Harper and the Conservatives only got a minority government. So ridiculous!

2. LOL, yep, their ignorance of the Canadian political landscape
whether deliberate or not, is laughable and pathetic.

6. As an American who follows foreign elections closely
Our media doesn't even try to under foreign election systems and their extrememly simplistic "analysis" is worthless.

9. Very true, they get their talking points and regurgitate them
with absolutely no interest in knowing whether they are right or wrong. They are not unlike bush in their lack of 'curiosity' about other countries.

3. They're pushing the angle that Harper unlike Martin is not anti-American!
This of course, is not the truth. Martin, and most Canadians are anti Bush's Iraq war and many of his policies. Harper was FOR the Iraq war and admires Bush. Canadians are NOT anti-American. I have heard commentators on American TV say that there is rampant anti-Americanism in Canada....NOT TRUE!

4. Just saw Lou Dobbs report with Bill Schneider saying something ridiculous
He actually said "something that may have contributed to Harper's victory is that he is writing a book about the history of hockey."

5. Ooooooh Gawd!
With people like this in our media and the government and some of the public that we have, you sometimes have to ask yourself "How in heaven's name did we ever get to be a Superpower?" :eyes:

11. I don't know anyone that even knew that Harper was writing this book!
It was a complete revelation to me. I doubt if many or any Canadians knew about it. I followed everything slavishly that was said about Harper and Martin and the election and never heard a thing about Harper and the hockey book.

12. There are actually several references on Google news
Never heard of it myself before today.

Maybe it's full of homoerotic fiction. Y'know, kind of a Liz Cheney-type of deal.

7. This is Why...
...I have just about given up completely on the US media. I am sickened by them. They never report anything correctly anymore. If they are supposed to be so "liberal", then why have they given in so completely to Bush? Either they never really were liberal, or they are complete sellouts.
