Hmmm
The last NDP leader to seriously swan about internationally in an issue of any consequence was Ed Broadbent, who while serving as NDP leader, was commissioned by German Ex-Chancellor and Socialist International President Willy ("Villy") Brandt to investigate on thee scene what could be done to bring about a cessation in hostilities in El Salvador.

Look what happened that time. (To make a long story short, hostilities eventually subsided, and Ed Broadbent became a legend.)
