Cons resort to name calling
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

February 11, 2008

This is an officail Con party release.. they could have put it more cordial. Do we need this kind of hatred towards others in the country?

MORE INSULTS FROM ELITIST TRUDEAU

It is time for Stephane Dion to rein in his “star” candidate

OTTAWA – Today, in Edmonton, Liberal star candidate, Justin Trudeau insulted 22 million unilingual Canadians when he told a Teachers’ conference that Canadians who do not learn a second language are “lazy” (Canadian Press, February 11, 2008).

“Some people use their spare time to learn a second language, others take up hobbies, volunteer or simply work,” said Conservative Member of Parliament, Guy Lauzon. “It is incredibly elitist and arrogant for the privileged son of a former Prime Minister to suggest that people are ‘lazy’ because they haven’t followed his path and learned a second language.”

This is not the first time that Justin Trudeau has insulted Canadians over language, in May of 2007; Trudeau questioned the rights of francophones to have a separate school system in New Brunswick.

“Justin Trudeau’s comments demonstrate just how out-of-touch the Liberals have become. It’s time for Stephane Dion to rein in his star candidate before he insults more Canadians,” said Lauzon.

1. Well, I hate the term "elitist", it's what Repubs call many Dems
but assuming they are quoting Justin Trudeau in context, it was politically a stupid thing for him to say (in Alberta). He essentially called most Albertans lazy.

2. Any money says the quote was taken out of context
The full quote may be in tomorrow's paper. I suppose we will see.
