CFRA AM: Liberals to Propose Non-Confidence Motion (not what you think)
Edited on Thu Mar-06-08 01:12 AM by tuvor
Josh Pringle
Thursday, March 6, 2008

The Liberals will introduce a motion today declaring non-confidence in the other opposition parties.

The motion will condemn the NDP and the Bloc Quebecois for helping to defeat the previous Liberal Government in November 2005. Prime Minister Stephen Harper's Conservatives won the Federal election in January 2006.

The motion slams the Conservative Government for setting back women's equality rights by cancelling such Liberal measures as the Court Challenges Program and a national child care program.

Only a handfull of Liberals showed up for two confidence votes on the Federal Conservatives budget this week, allowing it to pass.

:wtf: Crazy like a fox?

1. This was weird, too...
Smitherman Won't Wear Diaper

Health Minister George Smitherman will not wear an adult diaper.

Smitherman told reporters "I'm no longer thinking" about wearing an incontinence product to determine if they're appropriate for seniors in Ontario's nursing homes.

The Opposition parties called for Smitherman to resign last week after he offered to test the absorption capabilities of adult diapers commonly used in Ontario's nursing homes.

Smitherman insists his intentions were honourable.

2. What's weird about that?
If you enter <"diapers" but not "health minister"> into google, you still get thousands of stories.

Nothing to see here, move along now...

3. I just get the feeling my leg is being pulled.
This story almost seems made up -- the opposition calling for the health minister to resign over whether he's going to wear a test-diaper or not. Was Josh Pringle getting bored and punchy one night very late, so he came up with these two pieces of strangeness? I especially like the sentence, "Smitherman insists his intentions were honourable."

Is this even a story? Depends...

4. It is weird
I don't know the exact issue, but Smitherman unwisely claimed he was going to wear these adult diapers to show they were fine, which was a rather hilarious idea. Fortunately he has rethought the matter. : )
