Iggy Can't See
The trees.

Grits to run full slate: Ignatieff
HALIFAX — Liberal Leader Michael Ignatieff said Saturday he intends to have candidates in all of the nation's ridings, including one in Nova Scotia where the Liberals did not run in the last election after a deal with the Green Party.

“We will occupy, we will monopolize the centre ground of Canadian politics. We will push them off to the left, we will push them off to the right and we will hold the dynamic centre ground of Canadian politics,” Mr. Ignatieff told the delegates.

He told delegates that he feared the Conservatives were attempting to replace the federal Liberals as a centrist force in Parliament.

“We know their approach. We know what they did to my predecessor Stéphane Dion, and I am here to tell you they won't do it to me,” he said to a standing ovation.

Seems like faint praise to me. Where the hell does he think the centre is?

PSAC pressuring Liberals to alter budget

HALIFAX — Calling the Liberals “cowards,” about 100 unionized public sector workers braved wind and icy rain in front of a Halifax hotel on Saturday to urge the party to push for changes to the federal budget before it is implemented.

She said she was especially disappointed with provisions in the budget bill that would deny women in the public service the right to go to the Humans Rights Commission to fight for pay equity.

She said the Harper government has not been able to answer questions about how much money the measure would actually save.

“All they can say is, 'Well this will stop litigation.' When I heard that I realized that it's not about money. It's about ideology.”

So just where is Iggy different from Dion in standing up to the Conservatives?

I hope the Liberal party realises what is happening.
