Opposition MPs call PM a 'hypocrite'
OTTAWA – Opposition MPs called Prime Minister Stephen Harper a “hypocrite” Friday, charging he was only interested in controlling the Senate, not reforming it, by naming five new Conservative senators.

...

The nominations give the Tories a plurality of votes in the Senate, meaning they can now control Senate committees.

Liberal leader Michael Ignatieff called the appointments, 32 in the past 13 months, “incredibly hypocritical.

“He has broken his promise to reform the Senate and now he is filling the Senate with his Conservative friends," Ignatieff said.

1. Oh he's a hypocrite alright.
Unreal what he gets away with.

Now we're going to rebuild Haiti from the ground up, and look after women and children around the world as well.

I wonder if he's ever been on a reserve.

2. more bullsh*t
Friday afternoon news dump: Harper appoints another five Senators, tipping the balance of power in the Senate to the Conservatives.

Why did he need to do this now? Because the Opposition is obstructing the passage of anti-crime legislation! Whaaaaaaaaaa?

Ontario MPP and Senate appointee Bob Runciman says: "For too long, the Ignatieff Liberals have abused their majority in the Senate by obstructing law-and-order bills that are urgently needed and strongly supported by Canadians. Today, this abuse comes to an end."

Unbelievable. The truth is that any bills were killed by Harper when he suspended Parliament.

When will that sweater-wearing shithead get outsed?

3. Where was his "love for children" when he refused to request the return of Omar Khadr from Gitmo?
Khadr was 15 when he was taken prisoner for allegedly throwing a grenade that killed an American soldier. (There seems to be some doubt if it really was him). Harper knew that Khadr was a child of thirteen when his father took him off to fight for Al Qaeda, therefore he was forced into being a child soldier.
All western nations, including Australia, Great Britain, France etc. requested and were granted the return of their citizens. Harper is the only one who did not and refuses to make the request.
So much for his concern for the children of the world! He's nothing but a phony, lying, hypocrite!

4. Yakking about the Senate is for the sake of the old Reform vote
Nobody else takes it seriously.

It's a dead horse they like to prop up and flog every now and again, to pull in a few bucks from the old Reform Party purists. It's really very cynical.
