Parties to unveil plans for supermarkets and food
The Tories say they plan to introduce a new supermarket ombudsman to protect the interests of farmers against any abuse of power by large food retailers.

The ombudsman would settle disputes between retailers and suppliers.

The Tories will announce the idea at the Oxford Farming Conference, as they call for a "new age of agriculture".

Labour is due to launch its own food strategy to 2030 with ideas such as more allotments and a bid to cut waste and reduce emissions.

Regardless of which party takes action here its about time something was done to prevent Supermarkets from dictating
supply prices to farmers.

1. Agreed. It's not a fair or free market at all.
Not sure that "more allotments" would make any difference though.
