Expat-ing with Mr. B@L and the younger B@L (son, 11 yo) early next year.HELP! I'm excited and happy
but need help on where I can find info and even support.

Mr's employer will be handling the technical stuff, but I also want to bring my pet cockatiel and dog.

He'll be working in Bonn and we'll likely live in Cologne. I'm an ex-librarian so I out to know how to do this but I'm just feeling overwhelmed right now. We've visited (Berlin, Dresden, and Glashutte (LOVED Glasshutte!) before and we will likely take an intensive language course but there's just so much I feel I need to know.

Can anyone help me?

Funny thing was--I KNEW that if we got word of this Obama would win and the Dems would control Congress and the Senate. People I know couldn't understand why on Monday I was so totally confident that Obama would win!

Also, I'm an insulin-dependent diabetic (on an insulin pump) so any relevant info anyone can point me toward on that front is especially appreciated!

Thanks.

1. Pet Passports - your vet should be able to help there. The dog will need to be microchipped

if he or she hasn't already been. Also rabies shots. Dunno about the cockatiel? Anyway, check with the vet. There is apparently a form that has to be filled out (probably several).

Sorry I can't help with the medical stuff apart from advising to check with your doctor about the insulin, but you've probably already done that. :)

This site has some tips on moving to Germany with a dog: http://www.coyotecom.com/germany/basics.html

Also take a look at http://www.escapeartist.com/ & http://www.expatexchange.com/net.cfm?networkid=3

And don't forget to wave as you're flying over the UK! :)

2. Thank you! I'm a happy wreck right now--I worked so hard on the campaign,
then found out the day before the election we'd be going.

We'll no doubt go BA and stop at Heathrow anyway since BA is Mr.'s employers preferred carrier). One of these days I hope to visit your fair countries in the UK; we've passed through Heathrow but never had the opportunity to visit.

Mr.'s in Prague now laying the groundwork for his project.

Thank you so much for the links; they really help temper the anxiety level.
