Bye Bye Roe vs Wade, welcome Patriot Act II, SS privatization, flat tax
Edited on Wed Nov-03-04 08:40 AM by private_ryan
and frankly we deserve it. At least Rehnquist, O'Connor and Stevens will retire.
Looks like Bush will win the electoral vote and already won the popular vote by 3.5 million. If Kerry had done that, we'd be calling it a mandate. Maybe Bush needs to fcuk the country even more before people actually get it.

11. I'm outta here, too
Fortunately, I already have an apartment in Berlin, Germany. Now I just need a small place in Ontario to keep tabs on relatives and such here. MY SO is leaving for Germany this Monday to start bank accounts over there. I've already got accounts in Canada.

Trust me, the irony of moving to GERMANY to escape fascism does not escape me.

This isn't as bad as it looks. There are still many good people left in this country.

Sure, Bush can be evil. But just how evil can we get before shit starts really getting out of hand? I was hoping not to find out.

17. There is a line that can be crossed...
A line beyond which the peoples of Europe, Russia, and East Asia will not condone the continuing menace of America.

Only one president in the nuclear age has proven himself to be either too stupid or too evil or too insane to refrain from crossing that line. If we do not call bullshit on this election and take him out of office, he will cross that line in the next four years.

7. people are stupid
but that's what they and that's what they will get. The Dems cannot filibuster anything. To Bush's credit he said he will do all these things and they still voted him in.

and why not? He has proven himself over and over. Look at it this way, no more Terror Alerts, Osama threats, Anthrax investigations, abortions, etc. Its a brave new world, just wait until Cheney's energy goons get going, and the banks! Oh, the Banks are gonna have a GREAT TIME!

To the folks leaving, I wish I could go with you. I'm too old and don't have enough money. The country is not raygun's shining city on a hill, anymore. Maybe it never was, unless you are a white male.

20. I made a similar entry in my blog
All of the things that we can say goodbye to. America made its bed, now it has to lie in it.

If we don't have a miracle in Ohio, we can say goodbye to 80 years of progress we've made as a country. The bad times will be back in full swing. It's shameful that the GOP was allowed to use its vote supression tactics that were perfected during the 50s and 60s.

Progressives are being held hostage by the fundamentalists. Oh joy -- our own American taliban.

22. I'm hoping O'Connor and Stephens can last another 4 years on the court
O'Connor has become pretty moderate over the years. If Rhenquist is gone, and Bush gets to select the next CJ, I would hope that if he truly is a "uniter, not a divider", then he would pick her for that spot, guaranteeing a historical first by choosing a woman for the spot, and by not picking someone that mods and libs find deplorable, like Thomas or Scalia.

Edited on Wed Nov-03-04 10:51 AM by chaumont58
The first four years of the chimpie nightmare was the foundation for Fundie Nation. The next four will place it cement in place.
From the ashes of the old USA, the Christian Republic(sic) of North America arises. Hail, chimp!

28. Didn't you watch the debate?
Edited on Wed Nov-03-04 05:09 PM by mr_binklesworth
He said "I'm not gonna try to overturn Roe v. Wade" - though he mumbled it as if to think: "maybe only the pro-righters heard that".

Either he's lying on that issue to get elected (funny he accused Kerry of that), or his base is voting on the principle that he, though disagrees w/ abortion, won't overturn it (which is also Kerry's view).

Strange how that all worked out, huh?
