5. Faye, Can You Drive To A Place It's Easy To Commute From?
I live on eastern Long Island- the trains are diesel and infrequent.

To go to NYC, I drive one hour west to the electric trains & commute from there. Saves gas and time.

13. I drove a 1984 Thunderbird
From Dallas to Phoenix over the holidays through cold weather.
It has 200,000+ miles on it and we made it great without a hitch!
Remember--sometimes those old POS cars aren't that bad!
What kind is it by the way?

16. Oldsmobiles are great cars
And go a long wayss!
I believe in getting my moneys worth out of a car--hence the 94 Tbird (Big Red) with 200,000+.
I had a 1986 Oldsmobile Cutlass Calais(The Old Gray Mare) that I drove 298,000 before she (rest her soul) died. I had a party planned at 300,000,lol.
Seriously--if you can drive around town without difficulty--stalling, etc...I would say go for it.
Trust me--I do alot of driving--a car will give you more problems in town with starts and stops than it will on the open road so that is a good indicator if you aren't having problems.
Take it to a full service gas station-fill up with a high grade gas--ask them to check all of your fluids--make sure you mention you are driving it for a trip. I have always found as a lady that the mechanics at the station will tell you if they have reservations about taking it on a trip.
Its a good way to get a little peace of mind advice without paying someone to put it on a rack.

18. You posted in two places...
...so I responded in two places. I've responded again in the other thread.

What I said was not meant as an insult. I'm sorry you took it like that.

BTW, I find it ironic that you said I never post positive things, given that I posted this just today:

http://www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.php?az=show_mesg&forum=203&topic_id=288269&mesg_id=290170

I'm not negative in general Faye...I'm just decisive, and I trust in my experience, instincts, and ideas. When people go off on paths I think are highly unproductive for progressive causes despite good intentions, I try to nudge people back to a more productive path. To me, that is a very positive thing to do.

22. Honestly
Edited on Wed Jan-19-05 10:53 AM by Mistwell
I have no idea why it was deleted. It was not a particularly negative message.

It looks like ALL messages I wrote to you saying that you should make the decision yourself were deleted. Apparently you have a mod who looks "kindly" on you and is afraid your feelings were hurt by someone tellling you the truth without fawning words.

Anyway, you know you have to go to the protests, because you would regret NOT going, but would not regret going but failing to get there. That was the sum of my last message, said a bit harsher than that.
