http://www.cnn.com/2005/ALLPOLITICS/01/18/inauguration.protests/index.html

of course, now that I have read the article...it is not much coverage at all and as ususal, the light always seems to be placed on the "bad" leftists and liberals, and feminists, and evvironmentalists...

why can't they just acknowledge us for what we are ....Americans...

Edited on Wed Jan-19-05 01:08 PM by alexisfree
The D.C. Chapter of Free Republic has secured permits to offer what it is calling safe-haven zones near Pennsylvania Avenue, "to differentiate from the anti-American, leftist protesters who will be scattered along the parade route."

9. watch out for "ProtestWarriors" out busting heads.
This schedule of the fascist anti-protester's plans/locations was posted to the counter-inaugural.org mailing list >>>

9:30 - Briefing - Kalorama Park (Columbia Rd NW and Kalorama Rd NW), 6
blocks from the DAWN rally at Malcolm X Park. All ProtestWarriors
participating in the operation should attend this briefing. We will
form squads, distribute signs, and take attendance.

10:30 - We head out for the DAWN rally at Malcolm X Park, and the
subsequent march (at 11:15) to Franklin Square Park. Get ready to
challenge the Leftists, guys.

13:30 - (De-)Briefing - 6th St NW and Pennsylvania Ave NW. We will
regather after the DAWN infiltration, and get ready to protest the
Leftists from within the Free Republic protest area. Again, all
ProtestWarriors participating in the operation should attend this
(de-)briefing.

14:00 - We protest on behalf of freedom, the democratic process, and
America; get ready to rumble as the Inaugural Parade begins!

If you want to see any coverage of the protests you will have to go to European media.

8. CNN apparently doesn't get enough attention from all us Leftists
They are only seeing one side of the picture, they need to be educated as to what half of America is saying. We have serious problems in this country, even people who voted for B*** are against the war, dismantling Social Security, etc.

Click here to read this story online:
http://www.csmonitor.com/2005/0118/p01s04-uspo.html

Headline: In Ohio, election battles have cooled, but peace is uneasy
Byline: Liz Marlantes Staff writer of The Christian Science Monitor
Date: 01/18/2005

<snip>

On the other hand, while Bush voters say they're glad their man won,
some also criticize the president's handling of certain issues.
Chaperoning their granddaughter's birthday party at the Victory Lanes
bowling alley, Rodney and Jackie Allen say they voted for Bush based on
his position on abortion and stem-cell research. But they strongly
oppose the war in Iraq - an issue that kept them on the fence until the
weekend before the election. Rodney says that while he likes Bush's
"Christian values," he is "not a Bush fan."

The Iraq issue has been an ongoing point of tension between the Allens
and Jackie's parents - who live next door to them and strongly support
the war - despite the fact that they all voted for the president. "They
know how we feel, and we know how they feel, so we just don't talk
about it," she says.

Similarly, Mike Berkshire, another Bush voter who's bowling with his
wife and friends, also expresses doubts about Iraq. Maybe it "had to be
done, but I don't think it was a good way to go about doing it," he
says. An engineer for the ethanol industry, his vote for Bush was based
largely on the president's support for expanding ethanol production.

11. Coverage of Protests almost never fairly explains WHY
when you don't explain why people are so motivated to protest, to an uninformed observer the protest is SENSELESS.

So when we complain they point to the article and say "gee whiz, we gave you prominent coverage, what more do you want?"

What we want is a fair representation including a brief explanation of why people are protesting, SO THE READERS CAN DECIDE.

When no information is given (other than impliedly in the name "...stop war and racism" it is not really possible for a reasonable swing voter to even become interested enough to look elsewhere.

Add to it the final quote about "anti-American leftist protesters" and the swing voter is outright warned not to consider the (unstated) message of the protest further.
