Voters seek to ensure machines have paper trail

By BRIAN CALLAWAY
Bucks County Courier Times

They came to stand vigil outside Bucks County's courthouse Thursday night armed with candles, flashing light sticks and banners.

They weren't rallying over the war in Iraq, domestic violence or any of the other fashionable causes, though.

Instead, these people were focused on a more obscure - and they argued more important - issue: voter verifiable paper ballots.

"This is the first, the critical battle," Mary Ann Gould, co-founder of the Coalition for Voting Integrity, told the crowd of about 15. "If we lose this, the rest doesn't matter."

5. Vote-PAD: The Simple Voting Device that May Save American Democracy!
Vote-PAD: The Simple Voting Device that May Save American Democracy!

Yolo County, CA Spurns ES&S, Signs up to Use Vote-PAD for Voters with Disabilities, Other Jurisdictions may be Right Behind!
Made of paper, plastic and NO SOFTWARE AT ALL, the device works with a paper ballot and costs about one-tenth of flawed, hackable electronic voting machines...Could this be the HAVA voting solution America has been waiting for?

The Vote-PAD was recently featured in an article by WIRED NEWS which includes a few instructive graphics showing how the device basically works.

Much more information, explanation, testimonials, graphic explanations and downloadable brochures are available via the Vote-PAD website at www.Vote-PAD.us.

4. Why do I get so upset when I hear paper trail? Educate me. I only
beleive in paper ballots; no machines - no machines made by Republicans no machines that are tested for months by non-partisn experts - no machines that are not certified by a non-partisans.

Assure me that paper ballots would work and that there can be no theft - in simple terms. If you're interested.

9. Voter verified paper ballots will not work
unless they are HAND COUNTED and become the official count. This way the people who want speed in the count get it, and the people who want accuracy in the count get it.

PBHC = most secure and accurate.

I'm sure someone will correct me if I'm wrong.

11. Mary Anne...
Mary Anne's a good sort and one of the most tenacious people I've ever met.
She deserves a fair helping of admiration.
