Hartmann, 39, a lawyer whose father represented Vice President Dick Cheney in an 2000 election-law matter in Texas, told the newspaper he won't pay the sum. He told The Associated Press on Friday that he was never formally served in the lawsuit...
"Maybe he doesn't believe he owes that money but that's too bad," she said. "That's not what the court decided."
Hartmann is a former county prosecutor now serving as Hamilton County clerk of courts. He faces Democrat Jennifer Brunner, an election lawyer and former Franklin County Common Pleas judge, in the Nov. 7 election.
