What would you like on your HR811
This guy didn't get the memo, he was supposed to wait till after the recount started, and for Holt to appear before he started pushing the "secret vote counting machines with audits". LOL

Democrats and Conspiracy Theories

January 16, 2008
By Marc Sheppard

Anyone surprised by the rumors of New Hampshire Primary election-fixing flowing through the leftie blogosphere since last week doesn't fully appreciate the Moveon.org/Daily Kos mindset. But when Bill Maher suggested on Friday night's Real Time that Republicans had somehow hacked the voting machines in order to assure a Hillary win, I must admit to being quite shocked. Unleashing such an obvious smokescreen in an effort to obscure the recent backlash to Democrat-fueled "identity politics" seemed quite the desperate act, even for a notoriously partisan bore.

SNIP...Indeed, until all controversy over vulnerabilities in memory cards (see Hursti Hack) and central tabulator software is resolved to the satisfaction of voters, the optical scanner must be the electronic counting method of choice. Furthermore, states could likely eliminate a great deal of future malice by installing these confirmable OS machines exclusively and instituting mandatory random audits on election nights. It's actually quite easy -- just compare the paper ballot results of a few randomly selected districts with those of the machine reading them and publish the numbers.

1. Marc Sheppard is correct - a paper trail that can be audited - and mandatory random audits is all
that is needed to have election results that can be trusted

but Bev's army on the left will try to kill it again - just like the GOP wants them to.

5. We could get this legislation passed in every state
If people would put aside their personal agendas and just join toether for a change. This is what needs to be done THIS year and then you can go back to pushing for hand counts again.

6. The question to you is,
do you want to restore and preserve our democracy,
or do you want to entrust it to those who would continue to use secret vote
counting machines which are unreliable, expensive, and unnecessary? If you
are for the Holt bill, think about your position and how easy it would be to
restore and preserve our democracy with a bill mandating paper ballots and
public vote counts. If you are for fair elections, spread the word like Paul Revere before Holt passes and the powers that be claim that they have “fixed” our elections. (Imagine Bush, Cheney, et al., smiling like the Grinch and laughing sinisterly every time they hear this repeated.)

GOP HAD NO PROBLEM STEALING ELECTIONS

Only audits stop the nonsense. For audits you need a paper trail - nothing else.

To demand paper ballots is to fall into the GOP/Bev trap - which has already worked once to screw us out of federally mandated audits in 08.

Fool me one, shame on you... fool me twice .....

4. The key word here is "random" ... as in "randomly selected"
Last I heard, in both the NH and Ohio "recounts" in 04 the precincts/districts selected as "representative" were not really random ... It really all comes down to who the PERSON IS MAKING THE DECISION as to what "randomly selected" even means? ... i.e. which precincts/districts are selected for a hand recount? .. is it truly "random" or are they predetermined by someone "in the know" as to how the election is "supposed" to turn out, so as to both confirm the "official results" and also to not embarrass local officials.
