1. the irony is that I don't think DRE's are used up here except...

...for handicap access. Otherwise I think we use optical scanners county wide, so the actual paper ballots are always on hand for recounts. I'm not nearly as concerned about the optical scanners as I am about touch-screen DREs.

2. I tend to agree, we have Op Scan here, too.

But, the system is still too easy to game and without a mandated ans significant audit, all we have is a stack of unverified ballots.
