Iron Man 2 in 2010, Avengers in 2011
http://biz.yahoo.com/bw/080505/20080505005656.html?.v=1
Marvel today updated its feature film slate strategy and plans for the next three years, locking in key release windows for its character franchises. In order to focus its attention on maximizing the success of an Iron Man sequel and the launch of Thor in the summer of 2010 and because Marvel believes that the summer is the optimal time to launch a new property, the Company will not release a self produced film in 2009. Marvel plans to launch its 2010 film slate with the release of the sequel, Iron Man 2, on April 30, 2010, followed by the launch of Thor on June 4, 2010. Additionally, Marvel is planting its feature film stakes for summer 2011 with an Avengers-themed summer – a two-picture project which will debut on May 6, 2011 with The First Avenger: Captain America (working title), followed by The Avengers in July 2011.

1. Glad to see Downey in something commercially viable
A great actor who had some, erm, personal problems who hasn't got the recognition he deserves. This could set him back on track to doing something that will attract enough attention to give him the recognition he deserves. FTR I thought he should have received the oscar for Chaplin.

2. I wonder if they're going to go into Stark's personal problems in IM 2.
I always like the fact that Stark was an admitted alchoholic and that it became his downfall on a few occasions.

Stan Lee makes his heros human...that's why we love them.

4. I think so
They played up his drinking alcohol a lot in the movie. If they follow the comics somewhat, this may be the plot of Iron Man 2: Stark Industries falls into financial trouble, leading Tony to start drinking heavily. He can't function anymore as Iron Man (maybe even destroying his armor in a drunken flying incident), so James Rhodes takes over with another suit of armor (War Machine). The cybernetic interface begins to make Rhodes act erratic, even violent. Tony snaps out of his drunken haze, pulls an older suit of armor out of storage, and takes him on(or builds a crude one like in the comics). I think The Mandarin will play a part as villain in either part 2 or 3. They alluded to him in part 1 with the terrorist organization "Ten Rings". Maybe we'll see Iron Man's Russian counterpart The Crimson Dymnamo, or maybe The Titanium Man. Iron Man was a great kick-off to the Marvel Universe of interconnected films. Watch for the Tony Stark cameo in next month's The Incredible Hulk. Hope you didn't miss the Nick Fury cameo at the end of the end credits. That kicked MAJOR ass.

6. well, as long as he doesn't have rubber ears sticking out of his costume
and turns the Red Skull from a German into an Italian, he should be good to go. Now that Marvel will have full control over their movies (excepting Spiderman, X Men, and any other properties already optioned by other studios), they will be respinsible for suckiness. I hope they've learned their lesson after bombs such as Howard the Duck, the 80's Punisher, Captain America (1990), Roger Corman's Fantastic Four, etc. I think they'll make sure that Cap is handled responsibly this time.

I haven't seen the Movie yet but surely the Old Iron Man uniform can be pulled out of Tony's wardrobe.
