Hippies! Groovy Summer Music Festival Alert
Get out your wayback machines and set them for 1967

ORIGINAL JEFFERSON AIRPLANE MEMBERS LAND IN ASTORIA OREGON

Jefferson Airplane Originator Marty Balin will perform with members from
the original band, who have not played publicly together since 1965.

The historic event in Astoria, Oregon will bring together vocalist Signe
Anderson (now Signe Ettlin), bassist Bob Harvey, and percussionist Jerry
Peloquin reuniting with the man who started it all, Marty Balin.

Their set will morph into a "family band" featuring members from the
Jefferson Starship and the seldom seen Great Society, the band where
Grace Slick began her singing and writing career. Darby Slick, Craig
Chaquico, Slick Aguilar, and keyboardist Barry Flast will all be in the
"family". Other performers will be announced, while surprise guests will
not.

The three day festival ticket includes parking, camping, music, and
access to gourmet organic food concessions, has much more than a reunion
of a lifetime planned.

The spacious meadow, outlined by lush woodlands, also brings Country Joe
McDonald, the Great Society, the Holy Modal Rounders, the Freak Mountain
Ramblers, Alice Stuart, David & Linda LaFlamme and their band (four band
members have 25 to forty years in the band) playing the music of It's a
Beautiful Day, Marty Balin Band, Craig Chaquico Band, and much more.

Information and ticket sales can be found at: www.concertforbigred.org

When: August 22,23,24
Where: Clatsop Co. Fairgrounds, Astoria, Oregon
What: Benefit for the Net Loft Arts Center and Lady of Honor Signe
Ettlin

Other headlining bands will be announced soon!

11. Sorry - the OP is the entire email
assuming it is not all a hoax, maybe the website will be up soon. Maybe some of those bands have websites where their schedules are posted.

One pill makes you larger
And one pill makes you small,
And the ones that mother gives you
Don't do anything at all.
Go ask Alice
When she's ten feet tall.
And if you go chasing rabbits
And you know you're going to fall,
Tell 'em a hookah smoking caterpillar
Has given you the call.
Call Alice
When she was just small.
When the men on the chessboard
Get up and tell you where to go
And you've just had some kind of mushroom
And your mind is moving low.
Go ask Alice
I think she'll know.
When logic and proportion
Have fallen sloppy dead,
And the White Knight is talking backwards
And the Red Queen's "off with her head!"
Remember what the dormouse said:
"Feed your head! Feed your head! Feed your head!"

13. I sing that to torture my kids
When my daughters, now 24 and 21, act obnoxious at the dinner table, I get revenge by launching into "White Rabbit." Oh, how they hate that song. It's such fun to see them roll their eyes and cringe. Mwa ha ha ha ha.

12. Hippies - Rainbow Family Of Living Light - National Gathering Wyoming

37th Annual Rainbow Gathering of the Tribes

July 1 to 7, 2008 in Wyoming

Silent Prayer/Meditation for World Peace

July 4 dawn until noon

The Rainbow Gathering is a totally free, non-commercial gathering of people.

We invite all people to come camp with us in a magical mountain meadow
in Wyoming, chop firewood, haul water, cook food and participate in
workshops on non-violent direct action, yoga, alternative healing, and make
music, create art and dance until your feet fall off.

Some say we're the largest non-organization of non-members in the
world. We have no leaders, and no organization. To be honest, the Rainbow Family
means different things to different people. I think it's safe to say we're
into intentional community building, non-violence, and alternative
lifestyles. We also believe that Peace and Love are a great thing, and there isn't
enough of that in this world. We have a strong orientation to take care of
the the Earth.

Please join us in creating the world the way we want it to be.

17. Concert For Big Red - Aug. 22,23,24 Astoria, Oregon - Music/Camp-out!
I have seen this posted, and I have seen the questions from
others, too. If you have any questions about this event,
please feel free to ask!

When & Where: Aug. 22,23,24 Clatsop Co. Fairgrounds,
Astoria, OR
What: Benefit of the Net Loft Art Center aka Big Red - Lady of
Honor: Signe Anderson Ettlin

The website was slow to go up, it seemed. I wrote the press
release, and emailed the first draft to a friend, and asked
his critique. He wrote back, said it looked good, and he'd
published it! So, our webmaster had to get something up
quick. As of today, May 21, 2008, it's the same as when it
launched, but it will be expanding very soon.

The Performers are listed at the site www.concertforbigred.com
. It's ready for updates with confirmed Artists, and Signe
wrote a very nice, from the heart welcome note to be placed.
It also address the benefit to herself & the Arts Center.

Peace,
Dave
