Frost/Nixon
I saw this movie last night and it was a really good one!!

I've wanted to see it ever since I first heard about it. It was everything I expected it to be and more!

Anyway, if you guys get a chance to see it you definitely should! Especially if you're one of us who remember the Watergate era......

3. well, the only thing new I learned was.......
...about the problems Frost had getting it on the air! Frost got Nixon to agree to the interviews and then he later discovered that none of the networks would air it! So he basically had to raise the money on his own.

And one of Frost's researchers didn't want to even participate in it unless they could get some kind of confession from Nixon. He reminded me of the way many of us feel about Bush. And yes, back then I felt the same way about Nixon.

About Nixon? No, I didn't learn anything new about him but it was very satisfying hear him admit he broke the law.

But there was one small thing I learned about Nixon though. He believed that if he was able to redeem himself in the public eye by doing this, he thought that he might still have a future in DC. I thought that was strange that he would even think that but then again, he obviously missed being on the political stage.

5. The same was true of Nixon's "Checkers" speech, which was meant
to salvage his reputation. Ironically, & during the time that the media as a whole couldn't be bought, he had contempt for the media & didn't seem to recognize that he was only making it worse for himself when he used them for his lifelines.

"You're not going to have me to kick around anymore."

Thanks so much for the excellent summary!

6. well, I couldn't believe he actually thought he could return to national politics......
...but then again politics was a big part of his life and he clearly missed being a part of it.

There was another part in the film where Nixon phoned Frost late one night after he had been drinking. In reality, the phone call never happened but Ron Howard used it as a way of revealing how paranoid he was about everything and how he felt that he never really measured up to people like JFK.

You're welcome for the summary but there was so much more to the film! Seriously, you gotta see it!! It was great!!!

7. This is one amazing movie...
The parallels to today are pretty incredible, with Bush and Iraq. Plus, the acting is first-rate and the directing, cinematography, screenplay, etc., are Oscar-worthy. One of the best of the year, and highly entertaining too!

8. I'm going to go see it tomorrow.
We had originally planned for New Years Day, but never left the house due to the Twilight Zone marathon on the Sci-Fi channel.
