Poll question: Best rock 'n' roll band!?
I wanted to include Christian Death and Bauhaus, but the list was getting pretty goth. Dead Kennedys are pretty awesome, but what to remove? I enjoy more rock 'n' roll bands than I realized. Hendrix is awesome, but he is more of a guy than a rock 'n' roll band.

14. If you haven't seen the movie "Stop Making Sense", do it!
The film is essentially 'How to put on a killer rock show 101'. You will not be able to take your eyes from it.

Won the Oscar for best documentary in 1983. Directed by the great Jonathon Demme (Silence of the lambs). Absolutely awesome!!

26. Both of the Living Colour links go to the same song, Open Letter To A Landlord.
I was not really into the song, but I did enjoy the lyrics and video.

You Really Got Me is actually really catchy. I like the song. The scarf dance at the end was a nice non sequitur. All Day and All of the Night has some fun guitar sounds, speed metal bands should check out The Kinks.

The Who is my favorite of the three. I think their drummer is bad ass. He makes the end of their songs super awesome.

Thanks for the links.

The bands are basically all within the spectra of experimental music, punk/post-punk, and industrial/post-industrial, except for Floyd and Crimson.

Natural Born Boogie..

Steve Marriott and Peter Frampton before he became a self parody.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WAZlf_9ObLg

And Led Zeppelin naturally, I like the live set at the Albert Hall in 1970..

John Bonham was the best rock drummer ever, Keith Moon was great, Bonham was freakin' fantastic.

Moby Dick

How Many More Times?

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WE8ZoHUBZI8

The Mothers of Invention of course..

Stevie's Spanking, Frank Z and Steve Vai trade blistering guitar licks.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MKWBFWneJQ0

Probably the single most unsuitable for work song in the history of the world, Fuck Yourself.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pfE_98yy2iw

Not exactly a band but Stevie Ray Vaughan and Jeff Beck toured together and they were killer..

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2UIptI2rcjg

Oh, and Eric Clapton of course is God..

When the world was young, God played in Cream.

43. I think those are genres of rock 'n' roll. Industrial used to be its own genre,
but industrial has been mostly fused with rock since the 1990s. Ministry and Nine Inch Nails popularized industrial and rock fusions.

From this lineup I have to vote King Crimson, but my real vote would go to Led Zeppelin.

I really hate the song Stairway to Heaven, though. Most overrated, overplayed rock song evah.
