Robert De Niro to star as disgraced financier Bernie Madoff

Robert De Niro is to play disgraced financier Bernie Madoff in an HBO movie he will produce, according to reports.

Laurie Sandell's book, Truth and Consequences: Life Inside the Madoff Family, will be used as source material, The Hollywood Reporter says.

Diane Henrique's best seller, The Wizard of Lies: Bernie Madoff and the Death of Trust, will also be used.

I can't wait to see it. DeNiro is a great actor.

2. Wow. I'd love to see that movie. Altho I'd hate to see DeNiro in a role...

where he plays a REALLY bad guy (rather than the "goodfella" type bad guy)...but a real bad guy, who dupes and steals from even his friends. I've gotten used to him as a hero of late, and even a great comedic, likeable actor (Meet the Fockers, Analyze This, etc.).

Still, I'd imagine DeNiro as Madoff would be a riveting performance. I plan on watching this one, for sure.
