"If you're not for us, you're against us."
We all may, or may not, remember prez'nit duh-bya telling the world that a few years back.

A few years back a Christo-fascist, American-Taliban, radical Christian associate of mine told me that quote came from the Bible.

It's an interesting phrase. It means (IMO) that if you aren't waving a banner in full support and screaming your support for my cause you are my enemy. And, if you choose to be neutral in my quest, you are also my enemy.

Well, tonight I was reading through my Bible (I know, you're all shocked...A liberal who reads his Bible) and for the first time I noticed something...

I noticed that it's a misquote. The quote comes from Matthew 9:38-41. Jesus says (9:40) "...for whoever is not against us is for us."

IMO this misquote is quite significant. To me, Jesus is saying that if you don't actively try and harm me, you are not my enemy. Neutrality is acceptable.

Why do I point this out? Because they're wrong in the name of God -- AGAIN.

1. one wee problem
which translation of a translation of a translation of a translation with transliteration were you looking at? No to mention the heavy handed, political editing that took place at the Council of Trent?

2. Sorry, it appears in both forms in the bible.
Luke 11:23 - "He who is not with me is against me" (Supposedly uttered by Jesus himself.)

They're not wrong - your bible just isn't perfect. It says lots of things that aren't quite as admirable as many Christians wish.

3. The Cabal distorts EVERYTHING to meet its own agenda ...
... which is probably why George Lucas had this character, who was also ... lightly gripping reality ... use that same twisted Bush-logic to feed his own agenda.

5. Seriously?
I thought it was simple, and very similar to what * has tried to do to the country since 9/11 ...
taking people's deepest fears (in the movie, it was Ani's anger at his mother's death combined with the fear of Padme dying ... fear of 'loss' - in real time it was * playing off the 'fear of brown skinned Terra-ists')

... Palpatine (Bush/Cheney) played on that fear by promising Ani that he could teach him something that the Jedi wouldn't, that he saw the 'greatness' in Ani that the Jedi didn't, that Ani could be Palpatine's 'new apprentice' etc etc ... he played to his deepest fears and his ego-issues ... and voila, a monster is born.

6. It was done in about as unconvincing a manner as possible
That's why he needs a good story writer to take what you've summed up and make it into a plausible realisation. Real evil is subtle and that is why it is dangerous.
