Buddhist students get rowdy
Well, not really. About as rowdy as Buddhists ever get, I guess...

<snip>

About 200 Buddhist students held a rally outside an outlet of the international franchise Buddha Bar in the Indonesian capital on Thursday, accusing it of defaming their religion

2. Students, not monks. The distinction is an important one
Remember when the giant Buddha statues in Afghanistan were destroyed by the Taliban? There was an outcry around the world against such cultural vandalism. The one place that was silent was the totality of Buddhist monasteries.

Buddhism isn't in the statues or the name or even the philosophy. It's in the daily practice. Buddha himself said not to believe a word he said but to check it all out for ourselves through practice.

Some people will always mistake symbols for the thing they represent, though, especially the young and inexperienced. Most will outgrow it.

The rest will vote Republican.

12. At my house
we have literally hundreds of buddha,guanyin and other statues.
Several of us are constantly decorating them.It never fails that someone takes offense at what we do.We figure if the statues didn't like it they would tell us.

17. I believe the quote you are looking for is.
"Believe nothing, no matter where you read it or who has said it, not even if I have said it, unless it agrees with your own reason and your own common sense."
