Would it be an extraordinary event for errors to be found in all proofs that there are no miracles?

1. You're saying that there are proofs that there are no miracles?
I highly doubt such a proof exists.

2. I suppose it depends on what you mean by proof.
After Wiles announced that he had a proof of Fermat's Last Theorem, he recognized that there was an error in it. He was able to modify the proof to eliminate that error. If someone in future discovers an error in the revised proof, then does that mean that today there doesn't actually exist any proof of Fermat's Last Theorem?

9. What if there's only one fault and it can be easily corrected
within a couple of days without any special creativity, but simply ordinary competence?

Of course, you are free to use the term "proof" as you wish, but I don't see the point in expecting everyone to use it as you do. Imagine a dialogue:

A: Wiles recognizes an error in his proof.

B: No, either he mistakenly thinks that there's an error or his thing is not in fact a proof.

A: If it'll make you happy, I have a nice proof for you.

B: Written down?

A: No, but I have the idea.

B: It must be written down or it cannot be an actually existing proof.

A: Which elements of the set of integers actually exist?

B: I will now report you to the math police.

10. So if a bridge falls down because the engineer fucked up,
but after it falls down the engineer goes "Oh! I see what I did wrong - I'll fix it!", that makes the bridge magically come back to life, or makes it so that his initial plans weren't wrong, because they are now right?

Because, you know, it's all on how you define "proof".

Jesus. :eyes:

What a load of shit.

3. I was always told you can't prove something doesn't exist
so to answer your question, no it wouldn't be an extraordinary event

4. Twisted syntax ....
And yet another meaningless pile of words begging to be an argument for miracles ...

5. Since you can't prove a negative.... not extraordinary at all.

8. No, any more than it is an extraordinary event that errors have been found
in all designs for terrestrial perpetual-motion machines. You cannot prove there are "no miracles," you can only disprove all claims of miracles.
